Just received the Spydie LUM in ZDP189 steel the other day & thought I'd write a small bit about it.
If you dont know these knives they are the production version of the Bob Lum Chinese folder linerlock, this knife is made in ZDP189 steel was a long time coming(about 2 a half yrs)& was the second batch of what was meant to be a sprint run of 600 but it was so popular they did a 2nd run of 600. The first run was not really up to the usual standard also, fit & finish wasnt the best but the 2nd batch are perfect.
The handle is black almite with stainless liners which is egonomically designed to fit the hand perfectly & the steel as mentioned is ZDP189. I have the Lum Green chinese folder in VG10 & although they have not been used hard by any means, just light cutting duties for these ones, the ZDP seems very sharp & strong. It isnt as shiny as the VG10 & will stain easier however the ZDP is much stronger than the VG10.
Overall length is 183 mm with an 80mm blade & a 73mm cutting edge.

It has the leaf shaped blade, which i find very usable, with the Spydie hole(12mm) & has spyderco's logo on one side & the Lum logo on the other & is stamped Spyderco ZDP189 & the other side is Seki-city,Japan.
These are great knives whether collecting or as a user, I have put my green lum aside & am edc'ing the ZDP Lum, they not super easy to get but they are out there & can be fairly pricey. I would love to get more, the Lum tanto's & fixed blades are just awesome. The custom lums start at around $2000 & go up from there!! But the production versions look just like the customs & are a great knife,IMO!
If you like Spyderco Lums, you will love this one!
Cheers, Acero
